This month’s topic for our 10th Climate Talks, organized by Conyat Create, will be Sustainable Cities.

According to the United Nations, over half of the world’s population now lives in urban areas, a statistic which is projected to rise to two-thirds by the year 2050. In an effort to reduce the environmental impacts of growing urban populations, the UN Sustainable Development Goal #11 aims to promote sustainable cities and communities around the world.

In order for this goal to be achieved in Myanmar, we need to support the development of safe and sustainable neighborhoods, opportunities for responsible businesses, and communities that are economically and environmentally resilient.

During this Climate Talks, they will learn about the needs for sustainability in Myanmar’s urban spaces, the efforts that local organizations are taking to build sustainable urban environments, and think of new and creative ways to meet today’s challenges.

They will announce their speakers soon. Stay tuned.
