The mass walking event to mark the 2019 International White Cane Day was held yesterday in Myitkyina, Kachin State.
The event started at 6.30 a.m with the headmaster and students from Ayemya Tharyar school for the blind, Lin Lat Kyal center for the blind, the Regional Women’s Affair Federation, Maternal and Child Welfare Association, Red Cross Society, nursing training school, Education College, and the Fire Service Department participated in the event.

Also, the city hall continued to celebrate the day and Dr Khet Aung, Regional Minister, delivered the opening speech. U Thein Lwin, general secretary of Myanmar Christian Fellowship of the Blind (MCFB) thanked the donors, noting the K10 million from the Regional Government, over K5.3 million from Regional Ministers and departments, K100,000 from Women’s Affair Federation and others.

At the event, students from the blind school and Lin Lat Kyal center performed songs and dance. Additionally, Regional Minister and other officials toured the exhibition where the handicrafts of the visually impaired were showcased.
