Yeah, “Cats” is weird — so just shake it off!
Pop superstar Taylor Swift knows the upcoming movie adaptation of the “Cats” musical, in which she appears, is pretty strange. And that’s what she likes about it.
“I really had an amazing time with ‘Cats.’ I think I loved the weirdness of it,” Swift, 29, tells Andrew Lloyd Webber, 71, the composer of the original Broadway show, who interviewed her for British Vogue’s January cover story.
“Cats” hits theaters Dec. 20.
The film’s use of “digital fur technology” to turn actors into their feline alter egos has raised eyebrows.
But Swift, who plays flirty kitty Bombalurina, knew working on the flick would be a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
“I loved how I felt I’d never get another opportunity to be like this in my life,” she said.
Swift also co-wrote the just-released single “Beautiful Ghosts” with Webber for the movie.
“I think [writing] is really important — also from the side of ownership over what you do and make,” Swift tells the mag of her songcraft. “Even if you aren’t a natural writer, you should try to involve yourself in the messages you’re sending.”
Webber, no stranger to sheet music, agreed.
“Today, very few people have a major career unless they write,” he says in the piece.
