THE Nepalese Embassy in Yangon celebrated the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Nepal and Myanmar and the launch of Visit Nepal 2020 at the Chanthargyi Hall of the Shwedagon Pagoda yesterday evening.
Speaking at the event, Nepalese Ambassador Mr Bhim K. Udas highlighted the strength of the two countries’ relations, stretching back to the time of Buddha, who was born in Nepal.
The ambassador also promoted the State Counsellor's book on Nepal, published in 1983, which encourages people to visit Nepal.
Yangon Region Chief Minister U Phyo Min Thein also graced the event and called for greater efforts to welcome more visitors to Nepal.
Some 60,000 Myanmar tourists visited Nepal last year.
Following the event, the Nepalese community in Yangon and other attendees lit oil lamps at the Shwedagon Pagoda to mark the anniversary.
