UNION Minister for Labour, Immigration and Population U Thein Swe received Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict Ms Virginia Gamba and party at his ministry in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
At the meeting, the two sides discussed matters on issuing household certificates and citizenship registration cards to minors released by the Tatmadaw and the families and children in camps of the internally displaced persons-IDP, progress in making efforts for closing IDP camps thanks to the cooperation of the UN and donor countries, assistance from European Union in peace making processes, efforts for bringing peace to the Rakhine State after managing conflicts in the state, implementation of the five-year project on eradication of child labours in Myanmar in accordance with the Child Labour Law which was written in accordance with the UN’s provisions, the ministry’s close monitoring on dangerous jobs in efforts for preventing child labour there, establishing machinery for forced labour, building infrastructures in ethnic areas and issuing citizenship registration cards to the ethnic people in preparation for development tasks after achieving peace with ethnic armed organizations, job opportunities, conducting vocational trainings and cooperation from the UN in working on eradication of child labour, forced labour and creating job oppowrtunities.
