A workshop on developing effective strategies for safety of food sold inside and outside the markets was held in Yangon on 2 March.
Union Minister for Health and Sports Dr Myint Htwe delivered a speech at the opening ceremony of workshop at Lottee Hotel.
In his speech, the Union Minister highlighted the dangers of banned dyes, chemicals, fertilizers, pesticides, parasite eggs and other bacteria in the foods.
He also called for cooperation of State/Region governments, social affairs ministries and municipal committees together with the MoHS in taking measures on safety of foods in consumer markets.
Social Affairs Minister of Yangon Region Government U Naing Ngan Lin and Director General of the Food and Drug Administration Department Professor Dr Khin Zaw made their opening remarks on the two-day workshop.
