The Ministry of Health and Sports will use US$ 10.7 million international funds for prevention and control measures against the COVID-19.
Union Minister Dr Myint Htwe unveiled the offers of Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI) for $10 million which is 10 per cent of Health system strengthening (HSS 2) grant to Myanmar, and $0.7 million from the USAID.
He added that his office is increasing momentum of preventive measures against the pandemic, with holding regular meeting on video conferencing with local health authorities across the country.
The Union Minister also expressed thanks to the GAVI and the USAID for their assistance to Myanmar amid the crisis of COVID-19 as the country is following the recommendations of the World Health Organization.
The MoHS has also formed a team for effective use of medicines and medical equipment donated by the local well-wishers.
The Union Minister emphasized to avoid public gatherings, washing hands from 15 to 20 seconds each time, touching face with unwashed hands and dissemination of correct information.
He added the elder persons and the patients with chronic diseases to restrict themselves from going outside, although the arrivals from foreign countries and territories with the confirmed cases have significant declined.
The Union Minister also called for finalizing the contingency plan of MoHS to meet with situations on ground, readiness of ventilators at the hospitals, healthcare at IDP camps and awareness programmes.
At the meeting, senior health officials presented the works of respective departments and local health officials briefed on the measures of their offices.
