Union Minister for Education Dr Myo Thein Gyi visited the matriculation exam centre at No.6 Basic Education High School in Zabuthiri Township on the first day of the exam for Myanmar subject yesterday.

Together with Deputy Minister U Win Maw Tun and Nay Pyi Taw Council Member U Tin Tun made necessary instructions on successfully organizing of the exam.

A total of 971,407 students registered at 1984 local exam centres and 15 foreign countries for matriculation exam of 2020 academic year. Some 910,273 students sat for the exam on the first day, including 26,218 in Nay Pyi Taw out of 27,934 registered students.

There were 191 students at the exam centres of Correction Department in Insein, Mandalay, Katha, Taunggalay, Toungoo, Kyaukphu, Nyaung Shwe, Kengtong and Loikaw, as well as 125 students in Myawady Township of Kayin State.

Exam centres at Yangon General Hospital and North Okkalapa Hospital had five students each.

There are 30 students of visual impairment in Kachin, Yangon, Mandalay and Sagaing; 22 students with hearing impairment in Yangon, Mandalay and Nay Pyi Taw, and a total of 177 students with disabilities in Kachin, Sagaing, Tanintharyi, Bago (east), Bago (west), Magway, Mandalay, Nay Pyi Taw, Mon, Rakhine, Yangon, Shan (south), Shan (north) and Ayeyawady.

There are also 11 students for Optional Myanmar subject in Kachin, Mandalay, Rakhine and Yangon.
