A total of 56 well-wishers contributed K197 million in cash and over K398 million worth of medical items to the Ministry of Health and Sports, and K17 million in cash and K188 million worth of medical items to the Yangon Region government respectively yesterday. With the aims to support the government’s measures against COVID-19, the donation was held at the office of Public Health and Medical Services Department of Yangon Region.

On behalf of the donors, Secretary U Saw Win from the Health Network and International Relations Unit of National League for Democracy, Chairman U Zaw Moe Khaing from Myanmar Pharmaceutical and Medical Equipment Entrepreneurs Association, Chairman and Group Chief Executive Officer of Myanma Awba U Thadoe Hein explained the reasons for donations, and said to collect more funds.

Yangon Region government’s Social Affairs Minister U Naing Ngan Linn and Deputy Director General Dr Tun Myint from the regional Public Health and Medical Services Department of Yangon Region expressed thanks for the donations.

In his appreciation remarks, Union Minister Dr Myint Htwe said the medical items will be useful for saving lives and helpful for the health workers, while his office has been prepared for handling COVID-19 cases, with readiness of healthcare facilities and opening a bank account for the public cash donation.
