UNION Minister for Transport and Communications U Thant Sin Maung officially introduced Myanmar Unicode Migration at the MICT Park Conference Hall in Yangon yesterday afternoon.
The Union Minister, in his opening remark, said that Myanmar has initiated the Myanmar Unicode Migration process to implement e-government plan after setting the new font as a standard computer character for Myanmar language. It was standardized with ISO 10646 for Pyidaungsu Font which is now widely used in the offices of Union government, ministries and states/regions.
Plans are also underway to officially migrate Myanmar Unicode to the existing communication platforms, including social media, commencing 1st October this year.
The Union Minister also remarked that Myanmar Unicode Migration process is a crucial step for the success of the country’s planned e-government and all-round developments for the country.
