President U Win Myint and First Lady Daw Cho Cho conclude visit to India
The goodwill delegation led by President U Win Myint and First Lady Daw Cho Cho, while on a State Visit to India, visited the Taj Mahal in Agra, and gold and silver tapestry and a stone carving industry in Kalakriti yesterday.
President U Win Myint and First Lady Daw Cho Cho, accompanied by Union Minister for International Cooperation U Kyaw Tin, Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture Thura U Aung Ko, Union Minister for Transport and Communications U Thant Sin Maung, Chief Minister of Rakhine State U Nyi Pu, Myanmar Ambassador to India U Moe Kyaw Aung and wife and Indian Ambassador to Myanmar Mr. Saurabh Kumar, left Gaya by Indian special flight at 10 am local standard time yesterday.
The President, the First Lady and entourage were seen off at the Gaya Airport by Agriculture Minister of Bihar State Dr. Prem Kumar, MP of Bihar State Mr. Vijay Kumar and officials of Bihar State, Myanmar Minister-Counsellor U Myint Soe and wife Daw Yee Yee Naing and officials of the consulate.
The President, the First Lady and entourage arrived in Agra at 11 am local time, and were welcomed by Dr. Neelkanth Tiwari, Minister of State in the Government of Uttar Pradesh, Divisional Commissioner Shri Anil Kumar, staff of Myanmar Embassy in India, officials of the state of Uttar Pradesh and the performance of an Indian traditional dance troupe.
Then the President, the First Lady and entourage proceeded to Oberoi Amarvilas Hotel where they took a short rest.
In the afternoon, they visited the Taj Mahal in Agra where they heard a report on the history and cultural designs of the famous edifice.
They posed for documentary photos together with officials of the state and Taj Mahal, signed the visitor’s book and exchanged gifts.
Later the President and entourage arrived at Kalakriti where they visited a marble sculpturing industry of the statues of worship, personal items, furniture, mosaics, tapestry and embroideries, jewellery, personal items and cloths and signed the visitors’ book. Later gifts were exchanged.
After this they left Agra for Nay Pyi Taw by special flight, and were seen off at Agra Airbase by Dr. Neelkanth Tiwari, Minister of State in the Government of Uttar Pradesh, Divisional Commissioner Shri Anil Kumar, staff of the Myanmar Embassy in India, officials of the state of Uttar Pradesh and an Indian traditional dance troupe.
The President, the First Lady and entourage arrived back in Nay Pyi Taw at 7 pm, and were welcomed by Vice President U Myint Swe, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win, Chairman of Nay Pyi Taw Council Dr. Myo Aung and wife Daw Khin Saw Mu, Commander of Nay Pyi Taw Command Maj-Gen Myint Maw, Indian chargé d’affaires Dr. Sumit Seth and officials at the airport.
