Even Apple isn’t immune to the coronavirus.
The iPhone-maker on Monday updated its website with instructions for cleaning Apple devices, giving customers the OK to use alcohol wipes as the viral epidemic continues to grow around the world.
“Using a 70 percent isopropyl alcohol wipe or Clorox Disinfecting Wipes, you may gently wipe the hard, nonporous surfaces of your Apple product, such as the display, keyboard, or other exterior surfaces,” the company said.
Apple has for years told customers to avoid using powerful cleaning products on its phones and computers, citing potential damage to the oil-repellent and water-repellent finishes it puts on them.
The Wall Street Journal first reported the change.
Apple still tells users to avoid using bleach on any of its products, and says to avoid getting moisture in any openings or submerging products in cleaning agents.
The company also said that disinfectants should not be used on fabric or leather products — such as iPhone cases and the HomePod speaker.
The coronavirus has sickened more than 113,000 around the world, and has killed close to 4,000.
