Ministry of Health and Sports held its daily meeting on prevention and control of Coronavirus infection yesterday at its office in Nay Pyi Taw.

Speaking at the meeting, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry Prof Dr Thet Khaing Win called on the officials to coordinate with the ministries concerned to suspend seasonal festivals to reduce crowds in efforts to prevent the Coronavirus infection.
He also stressed the need to boost the preventive measures in Myanmar as the country has a potential for infection, citing the situation in Italy.

He also urged the authorities to speed up the surveillance at airports and to use the Personal Protective Equipment following the guidelines released by the World Health Organization.

The permanent secretary also called for raising awareness about Coronavirus infection at the examination centres for the matriculation students and providing the students with hand gel and surgical masks there.

The participants of the meeting also discussed preparations for responding to possible Coronavirus infection in Myanmar.
