Hantharwady United holds on to lead as Ayeyawady beat Yangon


Myanmar National League leader Hantharwady United maintains its position as Ayeyawady United defeated Yangon United 1-0 after Week 9.

MNL Week 9 matches were held in five cities on March 6-8.Hantharwady United, the leader of MNL, beat the ninth-placed ISPE 5-0 at its home ground the Grand Royal Stadium in Bago on Sunday.

The big match of the week was held at Pathein Stadium in Pathein on Saturday and host Ayeyawady United took the win with Nigerian Rapheal Success’ single goal against rival Yangon United.

Shan United, in fourth place, drew 1-1 against Magwe at Thuwunna Stadium in Yangon on Friday.Rakhine United in fifth place beat Sagaing United 2-1 at Waitharli Stadium in Rakhine on Saturday.Despite to the loss, Sagaing still hangs on to sixth place just ahead of Yadanarbon FC.

Although Yadanarbon walked away with a 2-1 victory over Chin United at Mandalarthiri Stadium in Mandalay on Saturday, its position has not changed.

The lowest placed team, Zwekapin United found its first win over Southern Myanmar 3-1. Due to the win, Zwekapin United moves up to tenth in the MNL standings.

The suprise win sent Zwekapin United’s rivals Southern Myanmar and Chin United to 11th and 12th places.
