UNION Election Commission Chairman U Hla Thein called on the Special Envoy of the UN Secretary-General Ms Christine Schraner Burgener at his office in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
During the meeting, they discussed preparations for the upcoming 2020 General Elections and to organize it on a nationwide scale, promoting women participation, amending code of conduct for political party members and Hluttaw representatives, plans to prevent hate speech and fake news from circulating in the election period, inviting international election monitoring groups, and possible assistance in the electoral process.
