The 66th conference of Myanmar Medical Association was held at its auditorium in Yangon yesterday, and the new executive body was elected. Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister for Health and Sports Dr Myint Htwe said MMA is serving the interest of the country’s medical world through its continuous teaching programs and public healthcare undertakings. The subject-wise groups of MMP should enhance cooperation and links among them in developing healthcare sector and medical and related subjects. Master’s degree courses in family medicine will be conducted in addition to the ongoing family healthcare diploma courses. Modern technology should be applied in sending the discussions of the conference right to the doctors working in remote areas. The Union Minister also highlighted the importance of safety in surgical operations and other medical treatments.

President of MMA Professor Dr. Ye Mya explained progress of work and future programs, and presented gifts to presidents and representatives of medical association of China, India and Thailand. Union Minister Dr. Myint Htwe, Deputy Minister Dr. Mya Lay Sein and MMA president formally opened the medicine and medical equipment exhibition. The Union Minister observed the election of the executive committee members and cast a vote. The conference continues till 22 January.
