Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr Win Myat Aye received Mr Atsushi Koresawa, the Director for UN-Habitat Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific, and party at the former’s office in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday afternoon.
During the meeting, they discussed technical and professional cooperation to reduce damages from natural disasters, and to develop resistance, getting information by using International Global Monitoring Aerospace System.
The meeting also focused on natural disaster management by using satellite technology and geographical information, construction of buildings for the returnees to Rakhine State, resettlement programmes for IDPs, conflict-sensitive approach in accordance with the national-level procedures for closure of IDP camps, plans for harmony of communities and future programmes with the UN-Habitat.
