THE annual gathering of former Ministry of Foreign Affairs staff was held at Rainbow Restaurant in Thingangyun Township, Yangon, yesterday evening.
Firstly, the Patron of the former staff group U Ohn Kyaw delivered the opening address and interim chairperson U Nyunt Swe and member U Nyan Win spoke welcoming remarks.
U Nyunt Swe said not only the people who actually worked with MoFA but also their spouses, children and family should be members of this group whether they are in the country or abroad because the group symbolizes kinship.
The group was founded on 15 September 2009 to preserve the history of MoFA and to build familiarity between former and current staff. It has eight executive members and 69 members with the executive members to be reelected on 17 March. Bogyoke Aung San formed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs ten months before Myanmar achieved sovereignty and independence on 17 March 1947.
