Myanmar’s national women’s football team will play against world-class teams in the China Invitational Women’s Football Tournament from November 4 to 12.

An official of the Myanmar Football Federation confirmed that the women’s team will participate in the tournament organised by the Chinese Football Association. 

The other teams in the tournament will be Brazil representing South America, New Zealand representing Oceania, Myanmar representing ASEAN, and host China.

 Head Coach U Win Thu Moe said the tournament will be very good preparation for the Myanmar national women’s team before the 30th SEA Games in the Philippines from November 30 to December 11.

The China invitational will be play ed under the round-robin system.

In FIFA’s latest rankings, Brazil is 10th in the world, China 16th and New Zealand 23rd, and Myanmar is 46th.

The other three teams all participanted in the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup in France earlier this year. Although Brazil reached the round of 16, China and New Zealand exited at the group stage.

After the invitational tournament, Myanmar will also train in Beijing,  and will to play least two friendlies with clubs in China’s Women’s League.

Head Coach U Win Thu Moe says he expects the invitational tournament and training in China will sharpen the team in time for  the  Sea Games in the Philippines . 

Myanmar competed in the ASEAN Football Federation Women’s Championship in Thailand last month and settled for third place award after beating SEA Games host the Philippines in the third-fourth playoff.
